Find the Diagnosis
Dr. Jeffrey Etemad was taught to always seek a precise diagnosis, beginning with his study of osteopathy in 1991 at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. In 1993, he attended a summer course led by James Jealous, D.O. at the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, which became his first introduction to the Biodynamic Model of Osteopathy in the Cranial Field.
In 2001, Dr. Etemad began taking courses again with Dr. Jealous. Through courses held usually twice per year over the next 20 years, each experience helped illuminate another facet of osteopathy more clearly. Dr. Jealous spent countless hours reviewing the work of Dr. Still and Dr. Sutherland, helping preserve and clarify the principles at the foundation of osteopathic diagnosis and treatment.
In the first edition of Osteopathy in the Cranial Field, Dr. Sutherland describes feeling the C.S.F. as a spark that was unerring, intelligent, and in command, superseding all other functions. He called this Primary Respiration. Dr. Jealous noted that Dr. Sutherland also saw clearly that Primary Respiration performs precise diagnostics.
